Jonathan is the Entrepreneur in Residence at Sprout, where he helps engage entrepreneurs and connect them with the right mentors.

Jonathan has a background as an entrepreneur and senior business leader in the food sector. Jonathan is the CEO of Scentian Bio, a leading NZ deep-tech company. Jonathan previously co-founded the Y-Combinator backed, 1000memories, which successfully raised capital from one of Silicon Valley’s premier venture capital funds, Greylock Partners (also investors in Facebook, Instagram, and Dropbox). 1000memories was acquired by Ancestry.com.

Jonathan has held executive roles at some of New Zealand's largest companies, including as Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Turners & Growers (T&G) Global (NZE:TGG), a $1B fresh produce growing, marketing and distribution business and Group Manager, Business Development at Fonterra, the largest dairy exporter in the world, where he headed up their $400M retail business. 

Jonathan enjoys running, cycling, board games and time with his young family. He is also active in the community, including serving as the Deputy National Secretary for the Rhodes Scholarships.

Jonathan studied at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, where he graduated from the MPhil in Economics with distinction, including his thesis focused on innovation theory. Jonathan has a BA(hons) and BSc from the University of Auckland, having studied for majors in physics, mathematics and economics.
